[O]f an iMix...Part deux

I just recently acquired some hot new songs that I feel is my duty to share with the world. Now don't just read, go out download/buy these tunes as they are the future #1 singles. Believe me.

And now...música:

  • Shakira feat. Alejandro Sanz ~ "La tortura"
    • The hottest, most ingenious rockera latina returns with her first single off her Spanish album Fijacion Oral (Part 1) with a collaboration with the always genius Alejandro Sanz singing along. The track oozes a celebratory flavor under lyrics that scream for love and pain. As always she plays with sounds and lyrics to poetic results. "Yo puedo pedirle lo eterno a un simple mortal" [-o- omg I just found out that there's an official (!) Reggaeton remix to this song. I fucking swear it's taking over!]
  • Eric Prydz ~ "Call on me"
    • A catchy club track in the same vein ass the fat man lip-synching, this tune has no significance on its own. To truly appreciate and love this, crank out the video. And if you've had a few Red Bulls and Vodka, then everything will REALLY make sense.
  • Coldplay ~ "Speed of Sound"
    • Their first single off of X&Y, Coldplay always loves having Chris Martin 's quiet moany voice over epic musical arrangements, and this track is no different. It has a haunting, soothing sound at the same time that it bashes you with its harmonic, concert-like sound. Bring on the away messages.
  • Black Eyed Peas ~ "Don't Phunk with my Heart"
    • Still don't know how I feel about this one, but BEP is back with wannabe-club tunes and this one isn't as immediately accessible as "Let's Get Retarded" or "Hey Mama" are, but it's catchy enough in an old school dance club sort of way. Fergie's presence in this track is much more obvious than it was before, but she is still doing the hooks. A fun song that is sure to grow and become big.
  • Garbage ~ "Why Do You Love Me"
    • The sizzling hot Shirley Manson pleads to a lover in this excellent, rocking song. Her sweet voice becomes commanding and desperate as she declares her status and then goes to question what is 'driving her crazy'. I fucking love this song, and I'm not that huge of a Garbage fan. Just get it. It's so awesome! ;-) [that was for you isa]
  • Mariah Carey ~ "We Belong Together"
    • Mariah's new album is her best since Butterfly, and this song harkens [-o- nice word] back to those days. The song is really sweet and a nice mid-tempo harmony. The lyrics remind me of Breakdown, though not as let's kill ourselves. It is more about a plea to someone who has not realize how perfect being together really is.
  • Beck ~ "Guero"
    • Beck has such a cool and unique style. This Molotov-style song is a nice road song. He has a little rap, a little Spanish, and a little drawl. Everything you need for a good song I say.
  • Rob Thomas ~ "Lonely no More"
    • Where's Matchbox Twenty? eh, who cares when the songs sound this good. This guy proves that the Santana stints were no flukes, and quite the inspirations too, as he melds Spanish sounds into his first single. The song's pretty nice I think.
So go get these songs, or at least try them out. You'll thank me in a few months. :-)
